Interview with an Architect

Doctors, Solicitors, Architects, we’re all human, but taking the first step to hiring an Architect, for some unknown reason, is like entering the unknown. I suppose people are more familiar with Doctors and Solicitors. You feel ill you go to the Doctors. You buy a house you go to a Solicitor. You want to build a new home, you do it yourself!

Here are a couple of reasons why you might find it difficult to talk with an Architect:

  • You do not really know what an Architect does;
  • You think Architects only design museums and airports.  A house would be too small a project;
  • You have seen Architects on TV and you could not understand a word they said.  It was all space this and that, light and composition, blah, blah, blah;
  • You know what you want but you do not know what to ask them.

Hiring a firm of Architects does not need to be a complicated process. Talking to them should be straight forward. If it is not, find another one which is. The moral of this short blog is this. It’s your home. Your paying their fees. If you are not happy find anther Architect. You are in control.
